How Long Does Lasik Take?
Using automated precision instruments, a minutely thin layer of the protective tissues covering the eye is gently resected, lifted and folded back as computer controlled laser beams alter the curvature of the cornea.
The protective layer is then carefully replaced with great precision on the surface of the eye and within minutes it adheres like a natural band-aid and rapidly heals to restore the full integrity of the eye. In one short LASIK procedure, an alteration of the eyes focus is achieved by shaping and removing only the inert, deep tissue of the eye. The front protective surface of the eye is not lost or damaged.
The LASIK procedure is carried out with such refinement that only a small spot of laser energy touches the eye. The beam is at all times under precise computerised control in terms of position, power and movement. The laser scanning systems have built in tracking devices to allow for patient movement.
Patients are treated on an outpatient basis and the procedure is conducted
under local anaesthesia and oral sedation.
Patients report little discomfort during the procedure and recovery is fast
with virtually no pain. Most patients return to their normal activity, including
their regular workplace, within 24 to 48 hours.
Typical time frames for treatment are;
Assessment ONE HOUR
Treatment TWO HOURS
Return to work TWENTY FOUR HOURS
Follow up 1, 3, 12 weeks, 6 months.
We continue to monitor for as long as you wish some patients we have followed for four years. Re-treatments are free at any time.
We stand by our treatments.
